Terms & conditions

These terms cover how you order from maker+stone and what you can expect from us. We've written them in plain language, but they are the terms that apply to your purchase.

Who we are

These terms apply to every order placed through the maker+stone website. By placing an order you agree to them, so please read them first. If anything is unclear, email [email protected] before you order and we'll explain it.maker+stone (ABN 41 367 780 682) is an online-only Australian jeweller based at Unit 103, 49 The Esplanade, Ettalong Beach NSW 2257, Australia. That address isn't a showroom and isn't open to visitors. You can reach us by phone on 02 4326 9193, by email at [email protected], and through Flint, our on-site assistant.

Orders & made-to-order

Every ring is made to the specification you choose: diamond shape, carat weight, quality grade, setting style and metal. After you order, we send your design for approval, and production starts only once you've signed it off in writing. The centre diamond is not one you pick from a list. The page states a minimum — carat at or above the weight shown, colour and clarity at or above the grade shown, Excellent polish and symmetry, no fluorescence, and an IGI report for lab-grown or a GIA report for natural. We source a certified stone that meets that minimum after you pay, and we send you the certificate before the stone is set. The ring is still made to order in 4–6 weeks. Please check your configuration carefully before you approve it. Once production has started, changes may not be possible, and where they are, they may affect the price and the timeline.

Pricing & payment

Prices are in Australian dollars. The price shown at checkout is the full price, including delivery.Payment is taken when you place your order, which is what allows us to secure your stone and begin making the ring. We may change prices from time to time, but a change never affects an order you've already placed. If a ring was listed at an obviously wrong price, we'll contact you before production starts, and you can choose a full refund or to go ahead at the correct price.

Price promise

We won't be beaten on price for an equivalent diamond ring, lab-grown or natural. If you find one for less from a reputable retailer, we'll match that price and take a further 5% off it.To keep the comparison fair, the other ring needs a diamond of the same origin as ours (lab-grown against lab-grown, natural against natural), of equal or higher grade for cut, colour, clarity and carat weight, and backed by a GIA or IGI paper certificate. The retailer needs at least ten verified reviews on Trustpilot or Google.
Making a claimEmail [email protected] with a link to the competitor ring and its GIA or IGI certificate before your order is dispatched. We'll reply within one business day. Claims cannot be applied after dispatch.

Delivery

Rings are typically made over three to four weeks from your written sign-off. We'll give you an expected timeline when you order and keep you updated if anything changes. Timelines are given in good faith but aren't guaranteed dates, so if you have a firm deadline, tell us before you order and we'll confirm whether we can meet it.Delivery is free, and we deliver to addresses in Australia only. Every ring ships fully insured, tracked, and with a signature required, and it stays our responsibility until it has been delivered to you. Standard delivery is by Australia Post and usually takes five to seven business days after dispatch. We'll email your tracking number when your ring is on its way.

Sizing & resizing

We'll send you a free ring sizer before you confirm your order. If the ring doesn't fit when it arrives, you get one free resize within six months of delivery: you pay the postage to us and we pay to send it back. Any further resizing is quoted before work begins.A ring that has been resized at your request can no longer be returned for a change of mind, so if you're unsure whether to keep it, return it before asking for a resize.

30-day returns

You can return a ring within 30 days of delivery for a full refund if you change your mind, even though it was made to order. The ring needs to be unworn and in its original condition, and sent back with its certificate and packaging. Engraved rings, rings we have resized at your request, and fully bespoke commissions designed outside our collection can't be returned for a change of mind.Email [email protected] with your order number within 30 days of delivery. We'll confirm the return and send instructions. Please send the ring tracked and insured: return postage for a change of mind is at your cost, and at ours if the ring is faulty.Once the ring arrives and we've checked it, we refund the full price to your original payment method. Most banks show it within 5 to 10 business days.We don't do like-for-like exchanges. Return the original for a refund and place a new order. This policy is in addition to your legal rights if a ring is faulty or not as described.

Cancelling an order

You can cancel for a full refund at any time before you sign off your design. Once you've signed off, production starts and the order can't be cancelled, but the 30-day return still applies once the ring is delivered.

10-year warranty

We warrant every ring against defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from delivery. If a defect appears in that time, we'll repair or replace the ring at no charge. The warranty doesn't cover ordinary wear, scratches, accidental damage, stones lost or chipped through a knock, loss or theft, or damage caused by work another jeweller has done on the ring.To claim, email [email protected] within the 10 years with your order number, a description of the problem and a photo if you can. We'll arrange tracked, insured postage to us, assess the ring, and repair or replace it.We pay the postage both ways and all repair costs for a valid claim. If what you report turns out not to be covered, we'll tell you before doing any work and quote for a repair, or send the ring back at our cost. This warranty is given by maker+stone (ABN 41 367 780 682), Unit 103, 49 The Esplanade, Ettalong Beach NSW 2257, Australia. Phone +61 2 4326 9193, email [email protected]. The benefits of this warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under the law.
Australian Consumer LawOur goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Faulty rings & your rights

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a ring is faulty, not as described, or otherwise fails a consumer guarantee, you're entitled to a remedy, whether or not the 30-day return period or the warranty applies. To report a fault, email [email protected] with your order number and a description of the problem. We pay the postage for a faulty ring in both directions.

Certificates & sourcing

Any diamond above 0.30ct comes with a GIA or IGI paper certificate, included physically with your ring. Each ring also ships with a supply chain map showing the origin of its diamond, metal and other materials. We work with Australian casters, verify the origin of our gold, and test non-gold alloys to ensure no harmful metals are present.

You may not copy or reuse them for commercial purposes without our written consent. If we design a bespoke ring with you, the ring is yours, but we keep the rights to the design unless we agree otherwise in writing before you order.

Liability

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable when you ordered, or for business losses, because our rings are sold for personal use.We describe our rings as accurately as we can, including through photography, video and 3D models, but screens vary, so colour and scale may look slightly different in person.Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales can hear any dispute about them.
